Faced with the increasing invasion of psychological labels on people's problems, Edward Welch biblically analyzes the reasons that make us give in to the demands of others. He proposes that “the fear of man” is the biblical description of the problems baptized by current psychology , and that, therefore, it is the fear of God that should govern our behavior towards others.

recommendations

"Refreshingly biblical... brimming with useful, readable, and practical insight."
- John MacArthur, pastor and author of The Gospel According to Jesus Christ

"Ed Welch is a good doctor for the soul. This book is illuminating, compelling, and encouraging. I highly recommend it."
- Jerry Bridges, author of Trusting God Even though Life Hurts

"Easy to read and refreshing...goes right to the heart of a problem that immobilizes the church. It exposes and repudiates the triviality of therapeutic theology with wisdom and compassion."
- Susan Hunt, author of The Real Woman

"This book is of unique personal use, as it offers a series of concrete steps to overcome our fear of man and develop a healthy fear of God that allows us to love people without letting our agendas be governed by others... it can be applied appropriately to children, young people and adults".
- Jaime Mirón, general editor of the New Living Translation

"Don't pick up this book expecting to read it to help someone else. Welch is tireless in insisting that the fear of man, that desire to be loved, accepted, and needed by other people, is something common to all of us... a guide to uncovering and tracking the roots of a sin that needs to be destroyed."
- Greg Gilbert, author of What is the Gospel?
